Turn Off Cable News, Turn On Something Better. Here Are a Few Options…

It’s no secret, the biggest U.S. media companies suck (CNN, Fox, MSNBC, Cable News Sucks). They push war and manipulate their viewers for profit. Like universities, the legal system, prisons, war, K-12 schools, the ideology of profit over all has failed, it destroys what it infects. Big cable news is a mess and serving not the public interest but their private interest: profit above all. Anyway, if you want to get your political news from somewhere more trustworthy than these profit-idolizing giant, then turn them off and turn to one of the suggestions below.

Networks with Multiple Daily Shows/Segments:

The Young Turks, https://tyt.com, TYT has multiple daily broadcasts, podcasts, and other forms of political commentary.

Democracy Now, https://www.democracynow.org, Amy Goodman hosts a morning live show that is recorded and posted online shortly after.

YouTube Channels:

Destiny, https://www.youtube.com/user/destiny, plays video games and talks politics and general interest stuff. Left leaning, anti Intellectual Dark Web (Harris, Shapiro, Rubin, etc.)

The Jimmy Dore Show, https://www.youtube.com/user/TYTComedy, hosts routine show offering political commentary. He’s a comedian, but often goes into fits of rage.

On Contact, https://www.truthdig.com/author/chris_hedges/, Hedges writes a lot for truthdig, he also hosts an RT show, “On Contact”, that publishes on YouTube. A self-described Calvinist with all the darkness that comes with that. While his conclusions are dark, his prescription, a call for activism against the corporate state, is correct.

The Katie Halper Show, katiehalper.com, Halper provides solid running commentary on political and social issues of the day. Has a ton of great guests on.

State Matter’s IL Informed, https://www.statematters.org/ilinformed, Daniel Biss and Glenance Green co-host a podcast where they discuss IL politics and broader societal issues. Biss is a progressive who ran an aggressive primary against now billionaire Gov. J.B. Pritzker. Green is an activist and researcher.

FT Alphachat, http://rss.acast.com/ft-alphachat, was hosted by Carlos Garcia for years and he produced phenomenal discussions on current events, especially economics and finance. Has a right wing/libertarian/market bent, but has an eclectic guest list.
